THE CONCEPT
THE CONCEPTThe current exhibition FUTURE ICONS by the Berlin artist group X JOY X would like to invite critical discourse on the topics of religion and fanaticism and set an example for openness, tolerance and peace!
Money, consumption and individual self-optimization appear to be the “new idols” of Western value systems. Authoritarian structures are increasing worldwide. Artificial intelligence is leading to increasing dehumanization and social media – in all its short-lived superficiality – cannot replace deeper values.
But what ARE these deeper values in postmodern societies…?
Are religions still needed today or do they even lead to restrictions on individual freedom and democracy?
In times of religiously motivated terror, fundamentalist extremism and nationalism as well as child abuse by „pious priests“, this question seems more relevant than ever…
The exhibition „FUTURE ICONS“ would like to provide food for thought, question traditional ideas and offer an opportunity for a critical search for meaning…
Provocative and partly ironic, the concept of icon art is expanded and transferred into modern times.
The newly emerging connections and forms of expression offer scope for progressive and non-dogmatic interpretations.
If your God forces you to hate and kill – find another God!
